Hi all. Okay, I need an expert in Java ricebird genetics. I have a normal breeding pair, young, but unknown exact age. I have no idea what their backround is genetically. Once again, they appear to be the normal coloration, however, they produce almost everything but normal offspring. Their first clutch was 4 babies. 2 normals, 1 silver, 1 red eyed fawn. Their second clutch was 3 silvers, 3 red eyed fawns, and one red eyed pure white. Out of 11 offspring in 2 clutches, there were only 2 normals. Now my questions are as follows. First, can anyone make an educated guess from the offsprings, as to what the backround of the breeding pair is? Also, is it reasonable to expect more offspring from this breeding pair that are not normals, or was this an anomaly? I am shutting down their breeding for this season, so as not to overtax them, as I know that they are young, and these were their first clutches. Just a note. They were awesome parents. They did everything perfectly. I don't want to push them too much. They no doubt need a break. One more question. What exactly is the red eyed pure white mutation called, and would it be worthwhile trying to breed it when it matures? I know it's alot of questions, but the genetics of Java breeding really fascinates me. I have looked and looked for a book on the subject, but no luck so far. If anyone knows of one, please let me know. Thanks in advance to anyone who cares to help me with any info.

Your birds would be split to fawn, silver and pied. They probably have some white feathers on them.

The red eyed pure white is a heavy/full pied fawn

Hi. Thanx for your response. The two normal parents actually have no white feathers on them at all. The only white on them is their cheek patches. They are true to the normal coloration in every way. I'm kind of curious as to what I might get if I breed their 2 normal offspring to other normals. This is all so fascinating. I should wish I could find a definitive guide to this stuff.
