Fraza

Once a chick has hatched, the other birds will recognize it as NOT one of their own, and in most cases will ignore it, toss it, or sometimes kill it outright.

Check the babies crops regularly to see if parents are feeding them.

If you can't open the nest boxes to check, then reach into the box when parents are out eating, very gently scoop out the babies and look at their crops. If the crops have food in them, then all is well, if not then you will have to supplement feed them until they start begging loudly. Once chicks start begging loudly, Socie parents will usually feed.

haroun yep they can be a hassle

@lovezebs and I can open nest box but the parents literally never ever leave I’ve only managed to see them about 4 times whilst they are swapping feeding

However I took of the lid with the female in and the big one looks healthy and the female is sitting on the little one so can’t see him/her

I've had to lift a few girls off the nest to check on chicks occasionally. Don't be shy my boy :D .

As long as the Father keeps feeding, all should be well.

If the chick is already 10 days old, he should hopefully be fleding before the new chicks hatch, so Dad can continue feeding the fledgling, while Mom should begin feeding the infants.

Hopefully you won't need a crowbar to pry her off the nest, lol.

Fraza

So from what I can understand from your post, the big chick fledged? Are the parents feeding him?

What about the eggs, did they all hatch, and are the parents feeding these little ones as well?
