Single egg - egg bound?

Two days ago I found a single egg in a nest box shared by a group of society finches. Yesterday and today I've checked and haven't found any additional eggs. Does this mean that the mom is egg bound? Or does this happen from time to time? The egg looks fertile, but no one's sitting on it.

The two lady finches look healthy and aren't showing any symptoms of being egg bound. I have another nest in a breeding cage with four eggs, a few days older than this one. Should I add the egg to that nest?

Rob I would add the gg to that nest just to be sure and sometimes the females take a few days to pass another egg I have recently had an zebra female who took two days to lay the third

A single egg can happen sometimes, and no it doesn't mean anyone is eggbound (unless someone is showing symptoms :

If no one is showing interest in this egg, you could put it in the other nest. Are these all Society Finches?

Yes, all society finches. I just found a second a egg this afternoon (I'm used to them laying during the night, so I was surprised to see it), and at least one bird sitting on them, so I think I started worrying prematurely. What I was thinking too, was the other eggs were infertile and eaten right away (happened in the other nest, but usually a day or two after). Either way, these two look great and promising.

I wasn't looking for more eggs from this group (since both females recently had a clutch) but I guess I can't stop them. I think I'll remove the nest box once these ones fledge.

Rob this always happens to me and what do they do one lays another egg in with the chicks already there then I can’t leave just one nest in the aviary because everyone fights over it
