LOTS of java babies for New Years!

Post by Babs _Owner » Sun Dec 31, 2017 2:20 pm

Happy New Years everyone! Charm and Tux hatched a whopping 7 kids over the last several days. This will be their second clutch (I hand raised their 1st clutch) Oddly not a single fawn in the group. :-\ I got a shot in before Charm gave them their morning feed (thats why the crops are empty). Very happy they all are healthy and soon there will be loads of juvies exploring the flight! \M/

haroun

Thanks Haroun! She has loads of mouths to feed and she is tearing through the boiled egg like crazy. Her mate (Tux) is a bit useless when it comes to helping with the kids. He's just sitting outside supervising while she does all the work. Let's hope she can handle the whole crew when they get bigger. [-o<

Babs - Congratulations! What a lovely bunch they are.
Here, in California, we can only dream of keeping Javas. Enjoy them and keep the pictures coming as they grow up.

Iso, I feel so bad you can't enjoy these finches. :( I'll try and pile on some pictures and a video of the handtamed Javas that spend my workdays in my home office with me so you can get an idea of their antics (they ride on my fingers as I type and get on the brim of my ballcap and hang upside down to look at me).

I wish so much I could box some up and send them to you. :YMHUG: If you are ever out this way, please drop by for a visit. *wink wink* You are welcome to come anytime.

Babs, what a great way to start the new year! Your birds are so lucky to have the free flight you give them. Best wishes with your new family!

Fraza Fernando wildbird Flight Feathers

Thanks gang! So far there's still food in every crop. Although she doesnt stuff them like gouldians and societies do.

Fraza, I only let my societies foster if I have an emergency and I cant hand feed, which is rare. I giggle at the thought of my little societies trying to feed a java baby.....I think the java baby would gulp up their entire head. Hahaha.

Fraza

I had to pull their first clutch and handraise. Both my java pairs where fighting while breeding in the smaller flight I had.

So I got them a double flight, put a divider in to separate the two pairs while they breed this time. So Tux and Charm have a whole right-hand side to themselves.

This will be the first clutch she's raised alone. ;) It's going to be hilarious watching all those juvies wreaking havoc for sure! :YMPARTY:

Tails & Lady are on the other side. I'm waiting for them to hopefully start a clutch soon.
