Hello. I have a pair of gouldians (5 months old) and a pair of red-billed firefinches in a large flight. Today I found an egg in the food dish. Any way I can tell whose it is?
I've seen the male gouldian doing his dance for the female, but she always watches for a moment and then flies off.
The firefinch hen has been tugging at the leaves a lot lately, and I had the thought that she might be wanting to nest, but I thought "No way, firefinches like privacy too much for her to be wanting to breed." Think I might have been wrong!!
Found an egg but whose is it?!

The eggs of the Gouldian and the Firefinch are identical. Might be the firefinch's

hfinney I can't tell from the photo, but the Fire finch egg is smaller than a Gouldian egg, fairly tiny.
