Dunno if the topic name is the right phrase can’t think of the name lol but anyway :

I put the real grass plant in the aviary and coco and the java Male cane down to it after a while and pulled certain parts of grass and then pulled them off and started chewing them till they was all crunches up then spat them out

what on earth are they doing are they just getting the water out of them or something

And right now as I’ve wrote this post the java is running around with a piece of mud

Yeah, they're probably just trying to get the juices out. The fibre/cellulose is typically difficult to digest, so it's more energy-efficient for the birds to just eat some of the plants.

I only have two of finches so far. The society finch one is on a thread I posted here a few weeks ago, and the gouldian fullbody is on my DeviantArt page.
