Littlest finch has black claws

Hi All,

So firstly I’m confused as to why my littlest gray baby finch has black claws? I’d been told this was only a “cfw” thing so I’m rather confused. (The father is a cfw so could this be why?) I’m also wondering why this little baby is so far behind the others! The rest of them have been fully featherd for a couple of days and are flying around and all, yet this little thing hasn’t even left the nest! And is it normal for the feathers on it’s head to grow last?

Thanks!

Yeah usually just cfw have black claws I think but then I had a black face that had black claws too... weird. And the mother of the bf baby was cfw.

Yes parents are doing good job. I actually shifted the parents and babies out of the aviary and into a breeding cage and just put a canary nest pan in for the littlest baby.

That’s interesting that split cfw can have black claws. Another way to look for split cfw then. And if they have split cfw guessing that means it’s a boy?
