Fallen Chicks--Help!

Post by canary3000 » Thu Jun 21, 2018 2:30 am

This is the second time canary chicks have fallen out of their nest. They are only a couple days old. Nest is deep enough. Might one of the parents be tossing them out of the nest? Sadly they were dead each time I found them. Very frustrating. Next time I will place the nest closer to the floor, with soft bedding. I just don't understand why this is happening. I should note that I did try to reinvigorate a chick. It felt cold, so I warmed it with my breath. It did start to move around a lot. I returned it to its nest. Not sure if it will survive or remain in the nest. Been an off year.

The parents probably have been tossing the babies. Watch which parent have been doing the tossing and separate it from its mate.
Have a nice day!
