had two of these little guys out of the nest this morning, still a third in the nest. they are so tiny though that they are able to put their heads through the wire on the aviary, luckily the bodies dont fit.
will try and get pics this weekend as I dont plan on working, havent had a day off now for 5 weeks

Aww I bet they're super cute, one of my attractions to finches in general is that they're so small....I love how something so small can be so darn cute

That's great! Aren't they just the tiniest things! Can't wait to see a picture of them. I never got any good ones of mine newly fledged.

They fledged almost 5 weeks ago. One is a male, just now getting the red eyebrows coming in, and singing up a storm! Wish I could keep him...he sings better than his Dad! But he's already promised.

Wow - breeding orange cheeks! I'm impressed! Those are tough little buggers.

Since they are even smaller than Gouldians, what is your bar spacing on your cages?

I thought the same thing when I first saw the thread, but I'm pretty sure these are what we call Goldbreasts in the US. Still not easy, and I hope you can get some photos this weekend, mick--I love photos of babies!

If they are smaller than Gouldians are they small as Owls? My Owls seem tiny to me but maybe the Orange cheeks are even smaller?

What is the smallest finch anyway? It would be neat to see a chart by size of finches.

If he means Gold Breasted (which really are orange, not gold) then they are the smallest finch. About 3-3 1/2 inches long. My babies when they fledged were about 2 1/2 inches long from tip of beak to end of tail. Really cute!

I see I miss-typed *oops* I meant Orange breasted like the post title said but anyway....those are tiny birds if they are only about 3 inches long!

they are called either gold breasted or orange breasted, same bird.
the three fledglings are approx 1 1/2" (35mm) in length at the moment.
