Hi! I have had finches for years in large bird cages and have raised many babies. I have a pair of zebra finches at my home and they continue to produce eggs but only 1 baby bird has ever hatched and I found it on the bottom of the cage and it later died. What could be the problem? right now there are 9 eggs in their "bungalow" and they both sit on them alot.

Hi Esty, That's a hard call to make as there could be so many factors. Perhaps the age of the Zebras... too old or too young? Maybe some others will have some ideas or suggestions.

Thanks Liz for your response. I appreciate it very much. I don't think they are more than 2-3 years old. How old does a finch have to be to be old? Maybe someone will have some ideas.
