I have a pair of RCCB's and a pair of Gold Breasts that have been fighting over the same nest for weeks. Sometimes I see the RCCB's in there incubating eggs and at other times I see the GB's. I'm not sure who has laid eggs in there i'm pretty sure at this point it's mixed since i've seen both pairs mate.

What should I do? Is it possible that whichever pair is in there when the eggs hatch that they'll assume parental responsibilities for the opposite species babies? I don't have a pair of Societies ready to foster so if the babies get tossed most likely i'm going to lose them ....any advice?

I see you have 2 Society Finches - one option would be to give them a nest now and put a fake egg in it, adding one every day until you have about 5 in there. They will sit on those and will be ready if needed when the others hatch / get tossed.

The societies are currently sitting on gouldian eggs. I checked and saw that two eggs are fertile and due to hatch any day now with the Societies. I'm afraid that by the time these eggs in the RCCB or GB nest hatch that the gouldian chicks will be too old with the societies. I might just have to get another pair of Societies. I was hoping that this pair were two males or two females but luck had it that they were male and female go figures.
