When can babies be seperated from parents?

Post by twhyde » Mon Dec 22, 2008 1:01 am

My Gouldian babies have been out of the nest for almost 3 weeks now. Dad seems to be getting a little aggressive (not bad) toward them. When can they be seperated from the parents? The breeder I got the parents from said she usually waits until the nodules on the sides of their mouths are gone. Any other suggestions. I noticed that the babies are not begging for food anymore and are eating on thier own most all the time.

If they're eating on their own and not beggin anymore, take them out.
Maybe the breeder has an aviary or something or really huge cages which makes a world of difference.

Hi Terry, you also need to ensure the babies can drink on their own as well as eating on their own before removing them.
