One baby gouldian feeding another?

Post by nadinecannon » Wed Jan 07, 2009 7:56 pm

I have a nearly two-month-old gouldian monopolizing the nest box of new babies who should have fledged yesterday or today. They haven't. I'm noticing this baby keeps the mother gouldian away and is visiting the babies when they cry to be fed.

Is the two-month-old baby able to regurgitate food into the premies mouths? [/b]
New Yorker transplanted to Merryland. 2-year-old senegal, 2 female societies, pair gouldians and, as of this writing, 5 tots.

Sure, this is common with other species too. Just confirms this 2 month old will be a great parent one day!

I have a baby Gouldian doing the same thing right now. He doesn't keep his mom out though. I will not be surprised if he helps feed the babies. I have a friend whose baby Goulds regularly help feed the next clutch. Like atarasi said I believe that baby will be a good parent someday for you. Good luck!!

Same here! Everybody feeds everybody in my aviary! I just love it.

My goulds need all the help they can get.
