I have posted before about my parrot finches finally laying eggs. They would sit in the day and out all night.
Well once again they are sitting on eggs. They have laid them in the little nest my owls roost in.
So.... they are sitting in there all day (the parrot finches) out at night and the owls are in there at night.
What do you think? Will they hatch?

Sounds like they could well hatch if not being left unattended (sat upon). Good luck, Donna!

Night 2: It has gotten dark and the parrot finch has come out after being in the nest all day. When he came out I quickly checked and there are three eggs in there. Within about 10 minutes the owls had gone in to sleep for the night.

Well I know these are parrot finch eggs because of the size. The owls have much smaller eggs. I said the same to my husband. Who will feed them? IF they hatch I am sure the parrot finches will feed in the day..... I am not too sure about the owls at night.

I will have my sweet little society finches ready by then....... I have one that is sitting on dud eggs now. Hopefully won't have to use her if they hatch. This is a very strange thing. But it seems I always have strange things going on in my aviary.

My understanding is that birds don't feed at night so I doubt the Owls will. This is why I don't feed at night when I handfeed. I wonder though if once the eggs hatch if the Owls will want to totally take over even during the day? This will be quite interesting. You will have to let us know what happens for sure.

Woohoo--your Owls are acting like fosters, at least for incubating! Hope you get some nice RH Parrot babies.
