Moving baby finches to a new cage

Post by Rodneyd » Wed Jan 24, 2007 12:21 pm

I have a pair of zebra finches with 3 babies that are just over 2 weeks old. In the cage next to them, I have another pair of zebras and two societies. I'm planning on moving them all into a bigger cage. I was wondering when it would be safe to move the babies. Any advice you might be able to give would be greatly appreciated.

I would wait til the chicks are fully independent, just to be on the safe side. The move will be stressful and could cause the parents to stop caring for them. Just make sure you place all the birds in the new cage at once to avoid territorial bickering. And I would definetly not have any nests in this setup. Unless you have a really large flight cage or avairy, you would only be asking for trouble. :)
