Were the parents being given eggfood before the eggs hatched? It is best ot start offering it to a pair when eggs have been laid. That way they will be used to it and will feed it to the young.
Seed is enough for the baby to survive, but not thrive. I imagine there are plenty of chicks being raised on nothing but seed as the keepers know no better.
Keep offering the eggfood and hopefully she will begin feeding it to the chick/s.

Just keep offering the egg, she may feed it eventually. Sprinkle some seed on top to entice her to try it.
My Zebras were never very adventerous eaters, wouldn't try anything, UNLESS they were feeding young. Then they were more willing to eat things other than seed.

you can also get egg biscuit and mix that in with the seed, my guys loved the egg biscuit almost more than the fresh egg I gave them.

hi lisa
dont worry if they are not feeding eggfood as they dont get it in the wild and they manage ok...a lot of my aviary finches dont take eggfood but they rear perfectly normal young

My zebras raised their young on pretty much 90% Lafeber's pellets. The pellets are actually higher in protein than eggs, anyway.
