The total you paid will be the acutal shipping cost. You will most likely have to pay import fees when it gets to you though.

I emailed Laraine at LG. She told me the total price plus shipping was in US. But apparently all is good, and the transaction has gone through and its on its way.

Re: www.ladygouldianfinch.com purchase
hey there,
i'm near toronto and i order from LGF (and the sister site LG) all the time
i have never once paid anything as far as customs goes for the products coming into our lovely country
i find their shipping cost to be really reasonable compared to some other american sites that offer similar products. its hard to find some of the things on the site in canada, so i feel the shipping cost is worth it ... (that and there is no tax!)

Sister site? how many does LG have?
As you can see I know nothing about LG until recently. Im a newbie when it comes to online shopping
Since its a sister site, do they put the order through to the closest location? Where is the main LG site located?
And where is the sister site located?
Just seeing which site I should use for ordering the NEXT time ;)
Laraine emailed me and said she wasnt sure if I had to pay a customs/import tax fee, or if this is included.
I didnt know that you had to do this either?...Ive ordered things from the states before, and never had import fees. She said I will have to check with the post office it goes to?
I have no clue...

Re: www.ladygouldianfinch.com purchase
hi
hmm... well the first site is: http://ladygouldian.com/ and the second one (the older one) is http://www.ladygouldianfinch.com/ they are both run by the same person and (i think) they are both located in the exact same place (california) ... if i'm wrong about the geography another forum member can let us know!
and yes about customs. so what will happen is if you get "hit" with a fee, (in my experience anyway
) you will be told at the door when the delivery guy comes that you owe money and have to pay him. usually, if you aren't home, you will have to go to the post office and pay the fee there. as i said, i have never been hit from ordering from these 2 sites. i usually place small orders, so maybe that has something to do with it? i tried to place a large order a few months ago, and a message came up saying that canada only lets us order a maximum of a 4 pound package from the sites. i have no idea why.
was your shipping cost really high?

ladygouldian.com is run by Laraine in Georgia.well the first site is: http://ladygouldian.com/ and the second one (the older one) is http://www.ladygouldianfinch.com/ they are both run by the same person and (i think) they are both located in the exact same place (california) ... if i'm wrong about the geography another forum member can let us know!
ladygouldianfinch.com is run by Joanne and Myra (Myra used to run the finchniche.com) in California.
Laraine and Joanne ran the ladygouldianfinch.com together for many years (they are sisters) but now Laraine has her own site and Joanne is partnered with Myra.

That's odd... Liz would be a good person to ask about that. I know she orders from them. You may not have to pay import fees. I usually buy cages from the US because I find it cheaper to buy from there even after the shipping then from Canada. I always have to pay import fees with cages but maybe its just because they are so big and heavy(?)tinysparrow wrote: i tried to place a large order a few months ago, and a message came up saying that canada only lets us order a maximum of a 4 pound package from the sites. i have no idea why.

Does their split mean there is a difference is philosophy or something? Is one site preferred?debbie276 wrote:ladygouldian.com is run by Laraine in Georgia.well the first site is: http://ladygouldian.com/ and the second one (the older one) is http://www.ladygouldianfinch.com/ they are both run by the same person and (i think) they are both located in the exact same place (california) ... if i'm wrong about the geography another forum member can let us know!

Re: www.ladygouldianfinch.com purchase
I've ordered from both of them and both have always arrived very quickly, though I get the stuff from Laraine a little faster (I think just because she's a little closer to me). The both have always shipped the same or next day. I don't know why they split for sure, but I just always assumed Laraine moved to Georgia and started her own site there.finchmix22 wrote:Does their split mean there is a difference is philosophy or something? They do offer slightly different product lines (i.e. I can get some things through both, but others only through one). As far as price goes, they are about the same, but some products are a tad cheaper on Laraine's site.
I cannot state enough how pleased I have been with service from both of them!

I looked at both sites and noticed that Lorraine offers a medication discount. That helps me out tremendously when I'm doing my annual treatments or have quarantined birds for the first round of treatment.

Re: www.ladygouldianfinch.com purchase
I may be wrong, but I think both sisters (Laraine and Joanne) ran the ladygouldianfinch.com together for some time. Then there was a split, and Laraine set up her own website, ladygouldian.com. Since then, I have mostly used Laraine's site. She is closer to Texas, plus I met her at a mart in Atlanta one time, and she is full of information and so willing to share her knowledge.
I notice from many postings on this forum that members call Laraine for help with a sick finch, and she is always there for them. That goes a long way in my book.

It all depends on who you live the closest to.
I can order from Laraine and get my order the very next day. Of course we live very close to each other.
She is a very helpful and kind person. I LOVE dealing with her and when I go to a bird fair I always spend half of my time there talking with her. She is great!!!!

Re: www.ladygouldianfinch.com purchase
I ordered from Laraine on Saturday night. After reading posts on this forum I changed my order two times with questions sent to Laraine's email. She emailed me on both Sunday and Monday. The ordered was finalized and shipped on Tuesday and I received it today. She took the time to answer my many questions; suggested things I may not need (that I had added to my order) and reviewed each item with me. She even checked the difference in shipping UPS or USPS to save me money. Overall her suggestions saved me nearly $30. She also sent me an email that if I have any questions about any of the products I purchased to call or email I can't imagine service that gets any better than this. I am extremely happy and satisfied with her service!
