I found The New Finch Handbook by Christa Koepff to be very helpful. I highly recommend this book to new finch owners.

I know you posted this a long time ago and never got a responds from anyone. Do not let that stop you from posting other great books you've found - did you ever check back and see how many people looked at this post? Go back and take a look! Just because no one had the courtesy to say thanks doesn't mean that they aren't listening! I just wanted to say thanks for your post! *Blaze*

Thanx for sharing the book. I juust found it then. Its so hard to find good finch specific books round here where I am, they are all quite general ones. My two favourites are Aviculture in Australia by Mark Shephard and The Complete Encylopedia of Cage and Aviary Birds by Esther Verhoef. There is good general info and some basics on each of the birds.
