Genetic Forecast for calculate the descendant of Gouldian Finches

Gouldian Genetics Forecast On-Line ver. 1.0: http://www.gouldianfinches.eu/sk/geneti ... a/english/

This gene. forecast is on my web page: http://www.gouldianfinches.eu/

Note:
- in genetics now use other symbols and designations . New labels can be found on my Web Sites.
- Forecast is going to be in next months complete with mutations (cinamon, dark, lutino, albino, white).

Autors:

Marek Buransky, marekburansky@stonline.sk; info@gouldianfinches.eu - genetics
Leoš Rapant - programming and typographical design

This genetics forecast as it was compose can not refund the breeders´s achievements about heredity of individual signs.
All breeders must at first understand a base of genetic and interheritance of colours and their interaction, too, to the right using of genetics forecast.
Our genetics forecast doesn´t know and can not cover the breeder´s knowledge of course , which are also needed to the right set of partner´s pair (male and female).
On-line genetics forecast that we have programmed is not the same as other forecasts which are known to me till now. These forecast are exe programms that we have to install into the PC and they are in English language or in other languages.
Breeders have to know the right names of individual colour mutations to the right set of partner´s pair.
I ´m going to explain you a base of genetic theory from which I was taken the facts and information and according as is this genetics forecast working.

Use of genetics forecast:

Breeder has to know the right names of mutations for the right set of partner´s pair. By female and male choosing we have to choose head, breast and body, of course with regard to the split. This split is needed to reach the right results.
It´s really important for breeder to know the split of breeding pair at least some last generations and write all the notes for the future. It will help him to reach the most objective results. Under the picture is automatically write the genome at chromosomes by the setting of individual parts of body.
After the completely right set we can see the phenotype of breeding bird in window of genetics forecast. If there are choosed the both partners, we have to continue with button "count". After this choise we can see down in window descendants of gouldian Finches: males and females - at first we see phenotype, after the slash is split in this order: head, breast and body.
At the end of the line it is simpliest genome for those, whom will want to make the calculation by hand.
If we show suffice with cursor of PC´s mouse to the right line in result we will see phenotype in small window .

I wish for all the breeders pleasant work with this genetics forecast and I hope, that it will help you in breeding.

Inheritance of individual colours as it was used by genetics forecast construction

YTB: Yellow Tipped Beak
Slash (/) means / is specification of split
SF: Single Factor (onefactored)
DF: Double Factor (twofactored)

Colours of head, breast and body are inherited indepedently. Pigments that are included in birds feathers create interactions and that is the reason why the phenotype is changing, althought genome by some parts of body stay not changed.
Names of colours and the names of their interactions that are next are only orientation?indicative and simplier (this description goes on chemical level make in a different way).

Head:

Males:

RR (Red): red (sex-linked and dominant XR; XR

bb (Black): black (sex-linked and recessive Xr; Xr

yellow (Orange): this coulour is situated at the autosomal chromosome, so it´s inherited independent from sex. Yellow must be in DF to appear in phenotype too. It is recessive, except recessive epistasis.
i+i+ (orange): in genome are two mutant factors of yellow (i+i+)
i+i-: in genome is only one factor of mutant yellow (split to yellow i+)
i-i-: in genome aren´t mutant genes for yellow (orange) colour of head

bY (black) + YTB: blackhead + yellow tipped beak. Genetically double factored yellow head laid over in consequence of recessive epistasis with black eumelanin. Into the descendant goes the both colours. Entry at chromosomes: Xb; Xb ; i+i+

Females:

RY (Red): red (sex-linked and dominant XR; Y

bY (black): black (sex-linked and recessive Xb ; Y

yellow (orange) - same as by males

bY (black) + YTB: blackhead + yellow tipped beak. Genetically double factored head laid over in consequence of recessive epistasis with black eumelanin. Into the descendant goes the both colours. Entry at chromosomes: Xb ; Y ; i+,i+

NOTE: X - sexual chromosome, Y - sexual chromosome

Breast:

Colours of breast are situated at the autosomal chromosome. It means that they aren´t sex linked.
Males and females can be single factored and double factored in watched sign by me:

PP: Purple (purple) dominant
ll: lilac (pink) recessive to purple, dominant to white
ww: white (white) recessive to purple and to lilac, too

Lilac colour of breast can be in range from nearly white till nearly purple.Lilac breast birds are better into the breeding not enlist because there is a chance that after some time may white breast birds absolutelly dissappear.
By the lilac breast birds I use the same phenotype as by the white breast birds, because they have great colour spectrum and usually is that a reason of body´s colour fade out.

NOTE: We set the dilute with dark-pink breast as yellow single factored (SF) with lilac breast (althought we can see him in phenotype as gold).

Body:
Phenotype of body depend on the colour of breast!!!

Males:

GG (GREEN): green (sex-linked colour XG; XG

II (YELLOW): yellow (sex-linked colour, incompletely dominant XI; XI

Blue colour (optical - structural factor) - more correctly - partly blue (par - blue), because it keeps some part of carotenoid pigments. By the original blue it will come to completely carotenoid pigments loss:
- yellow lutein (lutein epoxid - alfa xanthofyl)
- red kantaxantinu (canthaxanthin - beta karotenoid).

Next I´m using just the name blue. It´s situated at the autosomal chromosome, it´s inherited indepedently of sex. It have to be in DF to appear in phenotype. Blue is recessive to green and to yellow, too.

m+m+: blue - in genome are both mutants factors of blue (m+m+)
m+m-: in genome is only one mutant factor of blue (m+) / split to blue
m-m-: in genome isn´t mutant gene for blue optical factor.

Dilute (pastel): combination of SF green + SF yellow + purple breast (XG; XI; P,P)
Yellow (Gold): combination:

1.) SF green + SF yellow + white breast (XG; XI; w,w)
2.) DF yellow + lilac breast (XI; XI ; P,P)

Yellow: DF yellow + white breast (XI; XI ; w,w)

SF Yellow Blue (Pastel): combination of SF green + SF yellow + DF blue + lilac breast XG; XI; m+, m+, P,P)

Silver: combination:

1.) SF green + SF yellow + DF blue + white breast (XG; XI; m+, m+, w, w)
2.) DF yellow + DF blue + white breast (XI; XI ; m+, m+, w, w)
3.) DF yellow + DF blue + lilac breast (XI; XI; m+, m+, P,P)

Phenotype which depends on lilac breast may not change if the bird can split to other colour of breast.
Incompletely /dominance: mutant gene in phenotype will partly appear to nonmutant gene. It means that it is sufficient only one mutant gene (single factor - SF) to partly mutation appear in phenotype.
To total performance of mutation in phenotype are needed both mutant genes (double factore - DF).
So by the incompletely dominant is difference in phenotype between single factored and double factored bird.

Females:

GY (GREEN): sex-linked (XG ; Y;)
IY (YELLOW): sex-linked incompletely dominant (XI; Y;)
Blue colour - same as by the males

Yellow (Gold):
combination of yellow + Y + lilac breast (XI; Y; P,P)
Yellow: yellow + Y + white breast (XI; Y; w,w)
Silver: combination:

1.) yellow + Y + DF blue + lilac breast (XI; Y; m+, m+, P,P)
2.) yellow + Y + DF blue + white breast (XI; Y; m+,m+,w,w)

Females are hemizygots. Hemizygot is individual which has only one alela from alela pair. Phenotypely will always appear a recessive alela (there isn´t one of the alela pair).

NOTE TO DESCREPTION: Easier genomes are in this genetics forecast for more advanced breeders, whom will want the descendant of gouldian Finches calculate alone/on their own.
Otherwise their knowledge aren´t necessary for the right set of partner´s pair.

If you have any mention or ideas for improve this forecast, write to one of creators.

Hi Debbie,
I´m the author of genetics on his forecast and with his dues I want to explainet you on wich principle and on what base does it work. After a few months will create new forecast which will de widespread of new mutations (cinamon, dark, lutino, albino, white). Probably it will be an exe program with on-line service on my website.

When I went to that link, it says that the author is Marek Buransk, so yes, I guess they are the same calculator.

Are you planning on including the Australian yellow and the dilute that's in Australia? Calling SFYellow a "dilute" may not be a good thing, nor Yellow Blue a "silver" and SFYellow Blue a "pastel". It may get really confusing the more you add to the mutations.
Nice calculator though :D

hi

I don´t plan including the australian yellow and the dilute to the widespread forecast for this moment, because that's absolutely another mutation as the european yellow. Australian yellow is recessive and the european yellow is incompletely dominant.

Dilute-SF Yellow, Blue pastel and silver are locally using names, in published text I tried to explain how it's with the names of mutations.

Phenotype of body depend on the colour of breast!!!

Naming of mutations must be based on genotype. named after the phenotype is only auxiliary.

For example:

SF yellow + blue has by white breast phenotype of silver, by purple breast has the same mutation phenotype of SF Yellow Blue (blue pastel). So these birds ( I talk about the colour of their body) are genetically same and their phenotype is changed just in depedence on colour of breast.

for example:

SFyellow + white breast = phenotype (yellow-gold)
SFyellow + purple breast = phenotype (green pastel)
DFyellow + white breast = phenotype (yellow)
DFyellow + purple breast = phenotype (yellow-gold)

hello

marek

new symbols I use on my website. now only in Slovak. to translate into English the works

sorry for my english if it´s bad #-o

If you use Google Chrome, you can translate it to whichever language you speak/read.

Im not sure if Fire Fox or E Explorer have translators or not...

Hi Marek,
Thanks for the great link and explanation above. I'm really looking forward to the new version with silver and lutino as I have just bought a silver male split for lutino and a yellow lutino female. Cant wait to see how this affects the genetics, if at all :D

Ever since I updated Firefox, the calculator isn't working for me anymore. Seems to work ok in Chrome however. Strange.
