NFSS Classifieds?
They appear to be gone?
Anyone know why, or where it went?

Re: NFSS Classifieds?
There was just some discussion about this on the NFSS forum. Apparently, no one was using the classifieds, except for spammers. I'm not sure, but I think the classifieds were open to anyone. Maybe they should have made it closed to all but NFSS members.

Re: NFSS Classifieds?
You are correct; the NFSS classifieds were open to all (including non-members). I agree that the section should have been open for posting for only members. Maybe open for non-members to buy, but to post should have been a privilege open to members only.Sally wrote: I'm not sure, but I think the classifieds were open to anyone. God is my redeemer and it is through Him I have found eternal happiness. I am grateful, I am blessed, and I am truly loved. I wish all this and more for all members of our finch forum family. May you all be blessed and highly favored.

Re: NFSS Classifieds?
They opted to make it public in order to potentially drive more people to the site and encourage people to join.
It didn't really work because none of our members really used the classifieds, and I think the ones that did (myself included) didn't find them really resourceful.
I think more people use the Member Aviaries/Member Business listings to find local breeders than the classifieds and as previously stated, there appeared to be much more scam/spam ads being posted than legitimate ones.
Also, there were often times when an ad would be posted and left forever even after perhaps the birds were no longer available.
It just became too difficult to manage. I think we are in the process of redesigning the site and Barbara may re-open them but alter them a bit.
That is why she left the tab in the menu but it just doesn't take you anywhere.

Re: NFSS Classifieds?
Hmm. I didn't realize non-NFSS members could post.
It never seemed to have many ads, but I would check it every so often.
I guess most people are just using hoobly and ebay?

Re: NFSS Classifieds?
Yes, Brian, that's my ad. Didn't realize I'd be the first to use the new classified section! I recently lost my 2011 Purple Grenadier hen (that was devastating!), so now I need two Gren hens. They are hard to find, harder than males. According to the census, someone has more than 100 hens, which has to be a typo, but maybe they have a few anyway. I have emailed that person, but never received a response.

Re: NFSS Classifieds?
There was a pair I saw on hoobly a few weeks ago, but don't see it anymore....
Found this ad though:
http://www.hoobly.com/0/0/1713634.html
in New York, but who knows her age.
[edit; just saw the date of the ad]
Good luck!

Re: NFSS Classifieds?
I got all excited too when I saw a Purple Grenadier hen--then looked at the date! Oh, well, I'll keep looking. The pair that was recently advertised, were they in NY? If so, they are in my quarantine cage already.
