Shipping Option for Overseas Bird Owners

Post by MiaCarter » Fri Jun 06, 2014 7:38 pm

I've seen a bunch of cases of those who live outside the US and Canada being unable to order from many of the bird supply sites.

I just wanted to share an option for those who need medicines, supplements, etc. from companies that don't ship internationally (or charge a super expensive fee for international orders).

There are mail forwarding services that you can use, typically for a very affordable fee.
Here's the company that my friend uses: http://www.shipito.com/
They don't have a monthly membership fee, so it's cheaper than some of the other sites.

How it works is they receive your package at a US address, then they mail it to you wherever you are in the world.

I imagine it may be impractical for small orders, but if you're stocking up on medicines and supplements, then it may be worthwhile.

Just wanted to share in case someone finds it helpful! :)

Thanks Mia, that is actually very useful to know :D

I've often seen things for sale on American sites which we don't find here in SA but the store doesn't ship internationally. Nice to know there is another option! =D>

Now if only the SA Rand wasn't so weak to the USD...

Rox -- Glad I could help!

What's clever about it is it's a two step process. They receive your package and then they ship it to you.
I'm not sure if they still do this, but when my friend used it a while back, she could have multiple packages sent to the service, then they put it all together in one shipment for you. So you can save a lot that way.

I had a friend living overseas and that's how she received Christmas presents and saved everyone on huge international shipping fees!
