Security Systems
Does anyone use security cameras to keep watch on their birds? I'm thinking of adding a system so I can watch my pairs and see what they are doing during breeding season when I'm not in the room.
Just wondering if anyone can suggest a system they are using or like.
Thanks

Re: Security Systems
I don't have one, but that is a good idea. A few people have used nest cams, which are really great, as you can see if the parents are feeding, etc. However, most of my birds build their own nests or fill artificial nests with so much nesting material that I wouldn't be able to mount a nest cam anyway. A security system would at least allow you to check on the cages without disturbing the birds.

My Red Eared Crimsonwings are very shy when I come around and I would love to see them without intrusion. Same with my Peter's. Also I think I could place cameras in places that would watch and see when pairs started feeding and chicks hatched because I could see the increased activity.
Plus, some systems can download video clips which would be nice to be able to upload and share with other.
If anyone has a good resource for reviews, I'd love to look through it.

Hmmmmm, while I couldn't watch it at work, I could set up a camera in my aviary and watch them from my computer. It would be interesting to see if they behave differently when I'm not nearby.

Some of the systems have it set up where they actually have their own IP address and you can log into it at anytime and see what every is going on.SO, technically you could log from work to see whats going on.
Just need to find a good system to install.

Re: Security Systems
I had a dlink camera in the outside aviary so I could check on the birds from the computer or my phone. Might be something you would want to look into??

If you do a google search "d'link camera's" their services and camera's should pop up.
