Great Egg/Hatching Resource

I was trying to locate a picture of the deformity that occurs when two eggs collide in the ovaduct in an egg binding situation. (I know I saw it on a particular site, but I haven't found it yet!)

As I was going through all the images on the site where I saw that image, I realized that I should share as the images are just SO helpful and informative. I've learned a lot myself.

It's a site run by a cockatiel breeder, but a majority of the info applies to finches too. The woman who runs the site must have decades of experience and/or gobs of connections with other breeders as she literally has photos of every problem, issue, deformity, etc.

There was one point that I wanted to discuss the more experienced breeders like finchmix22 and Ginene to see if it applies to finch babies as well.

There's mention of how in dehydrated, newly hatched chicks who've had a tough, long hatch will form a dark intestine coloration.

Has anyone seen this in finches? Does that discoloration/darkening occur in slightly older chicks too? I've never noticed it, so I think it may be a cockatiel thing. Or perhaps mine have never gotten to that point. I've only seen the skin darkening/reddening and a dryness.

They're super informative. I know a ton about eggs and I still learned so much, so I can only imagine how helpful it would be to a newbie!

Also, does anyone know the woman who runs that site? It's Susanne Russo and Crystal Renee Bush. I'm just curious as to how long they've been breeding as the photos are incredible!
ETA -- Answered my own question. On one of the pages on yeast (http://www.internationalcockatielresour ... abies.html), one of them mentions 16+ years of breeding experience with several thousand babies. That's a lot of birds!

MiaCarter Give me a few days to read through those links before I make them a sticky. I want to make sure that none of the information would be misleading for newbies. For example, in quickly scanning it, I noted that it says cockatiels lay one egg every other day. This is different from finches, which lay one egg every day, so I would want to note those differences. I am a bit swamped right now, plate pretty full, so it may take me a few days to have free time.

MiaCarter...you are very sweet...I am a newbie @ breeding . There are so many others who could answer your questions though...like Sally, Deb, Cindy, Debbie, Todd, Bob, Dolly, Marius, Chris, Brian, etc...LOL!!! There are a lot of very experienced breeders on this forum!!! I had to stop listing them or this post will never end
