I still have a wish list of a few (ca 4) finch books, but nothing horribly important or urgent, just to complete my collection.

I think I've already told you which two books I think you could put into most use:
Finches & Sparrows
The Hancock House Encyclopedia of Estrildid Finches

Neither is likely to be as dirt cheap as your other orders even used though.

Well, I will keep my eyes open.
One never knows when something all of a sudden goes on sale, or if they offer free shipping, which in many cases appears to be the big expense.

Well, Caged and Aviary Birds by Alderton has arrived.

It is a beautiful book, with lovely pictures and lots of information, that I think would delight any bird lover.

It seems a bit different from the edition I have, in which each bird is on a page of its own. Judging by your scanned pages, it is still stronger on pretty pics than on info though - the descriptions are very short.
Makes for pleasant browsing, but I much prefer Verhoef's similarly titled book.
How did you find Trollope's book?

After having been disappointed by 2 books by Adlerton, I only want to order one more by him, just to complete my collection:

I actually rather like this book.

There is quite a bit of good information in it, most especially for a person starting out, but also for people who have been into birds for a while.

Very good concise information regarding :
How to start out, planning, what to expect, cages and so on.
A good chapter about feeding, including live foods, etc.
A lot of info about aviaries, chosing them, buying them, building them.
Information about how to choose a bird, and how to shop for one (what to look for).
How to care for pet birds, and how to care for aviary birds, including cleaning.
How to catch birds and handle them.
A whole chapter on how to keep your birds healthy, and how to deal with different health issues.
Showing birds.
Breeding birds, nests and nesting, feeding, along with problems that might come up. Handfeeding, banding, taming, with a tiny bit on genetics (regarding Budgies).

It is true, that there is not a huge amount of in depth information about each individual species, but there is enough to give you a basic idea, which is more than enough for most people.

Does it cover all the species and subspecies?
No.
However it does cover quite a few.

The bright coloured pictures, are a bonus, seeing as you can read about the individual species and see what they look like.

I would definitely recommend this book for anyone starting out with birds, and I would also recommend it to others as well, as a fun book with beautiful pictures, along with good information.

I just saw your comment: "The Seed Eating Birds..... I haven't really had much of chance to look through yet (other than to note, that it is definitely not in the excellent condition as the seller claimed). Will be able to comment more on it in the next little while." All of my books arrived last week and the only one that arrived in poor condition was this one also!!

The vendor who sent me The New Finch Handbook sent it in perfect condition and sent me 2 extra books!!!!! I thought that was very nice!!!

Pagingplaces was the seller on Amazon!
I've read a few reviews and I see a few others received a free book or two.

No comments on Trollope's book?

And have neither of the remaining two arrived yet?
