That's a lot.
You really seem to have got into shopping for books!

Which one is the handbook?
Alderton's or Vriends'?

It's the Alderton one, with the blue bird on the cover. Have you got that one?

Yes, I have bought several books. I figure that if I can get them for these prices, I may as well. Even including the shipping, they are still so much cheaper than buying new at the book shop (and then again, a lot of these books are no longer even available at the book stores, and they are beautiful books which do contain good information).

No I don't.
I have two bird books by that guy and found both disappointing.
When I looked it up, I saw it's very thick and cheap so got interested, but the few sample pages viewable online contain just 2 photos per page with no text which is weird. Let me know what it's actually like.

Has the latest book increased your interest in softbills or put you off them?

I also still have a shopping list but am leaving it for next month or so.

Btw, what do you typically pay for shipping of used books on amazon.ca?
To my part of the World, shipping costs for used books on amazon.com are excessive, more than double that of shipping costs for new books bought from them.

I tend to buy used books on abebooks.com where the shipping cost varies from seller to seller, and I usually select ones who ship cheaply, say $6/book or so.
Some US sellers claim crazy rates like $30-75 for shipping a single book abroad, I guess in reality they just don't want to bother with international orders.

Well, most books ship for around $6.49 or there about through Amazon.ca.
When I checked out some books on Amazon.com, the shipping prices were quite a bit higher.

I haven't checked out Abebooks.com yet.

Regarding the latest arrival and the Softbills.
I am interested in some Softbills, but I very much doubt if I'll ever own any.
They would probably need a lot more space than I currently have.

Well, another book just arrived several minutes ago.

Cage & Aviary Birds, by Richard Mark Martin
Illustrated by Malcolm Ellis

A pretty little book. I absolutely love the illustrations, which are quite well done and decorate practically every page.

I haven't had much time to read through the text yet.

Oh I am sure.
That's what books of old do.
Newer ones tend to focus on parrots and estrildid finches.
These days very few people keep softbills, buntings, etc.
What's the text like? Seems very limited. Or is it separately at the back?

There is information text at the begining of the book, then on most pages that are opposite the picture pages.

It's a nice little book, and although there isn't a lot of individual species information, I am enjoying it.

Two Zebra books have arrived, well before their eta.

ZEBRA FINCHES A Complete Owner's Manual, by: Hans-Jurgen Martin

Zebra Finch Care (Quick & Easy) by: Nikki Moustaki

ANNNND...

The Complete Encyclopedia of Cage & Aviary Birds, by: Esther Verhoef-Verhallen

This is one of the missing books from England, which never arrived, and for which I was refunded, and which I have since reordered from another company.... #-o and which should be arriving in another ten or eleven days.

So has the Verhoef book arrived already or still due to come?

How are the zebra books?
Anything new in them for you?

As you can see, the bottom book, is the Verhoef-Verhallen book, lol. It simply has a differend cover picture. This in fact, is one of the 2 lost books from Britain.

We haven't seen much of you lately. I hope everything is alright (?)

P.S.
The Zebra books, are good little books.
Not sure if you keep Zebras or not, but they are full of information that is good to go over.

After some serious decision-making, I decided to go with everything on the first list except for the Trollop/Seed Eating birds. I saved that for later, since I also happened to purchase a Prevue F030 flight...

I was in a remote area (seeing Black-headed nuns and Moluccan munias) and my ipad was stolen on the way there so I hardly ever got online.
Now back home with a new phone so can get online regularly again.
So how do you find the Verhoef book compared to the general aviacultural books you had bought?
I keep only Timor Zebras.
