Penguin zebra genetics...

Post by dpedersen » Mon Jun 28, 2010 4:06 pm

I picked up a zebra finch yesterday. Her parents were penguins and she appears to be a fawn penguin. What could I pair her with to get more penguins? Would it have to be with a male that is at least split for penguin or would it work combining her with another recessive colour mutation?
ADULTS:
4 zebras, 2 bronzewings, 2 green singers & 2 owls

JUVENILES:
2 hand tame zebras- Julius & Caesar

CHICKS:
5 zebra fledglings, 2 handfed owl nestlings

Since this mutation is recessive you are going to need another penguin or a split one to get more penguins. Apperently it is hard to see that a bird is split for this mutation so you would need to know the parentage.
