new mutation????

this zebra finch was bred about a year and a half ago and these are the colours he turned out to be. i took this photo about three months ago just as i put him from the big aviary into a breeding cage to try and get some youngsters looking like him.

has anyone ever seen this before im not sure???

and i took this photo today

he has completely lost all the white in his wing and has changed to the rest of his body colour. can somebody please help explain this for me???

I have to say that he is very pretty!

I have never seen this before,
but it looks like he is Lightback (LB)
Maybe he got his feathers plucked when he was young
and they grow back white?
And just now he is getting more colors in them..

I was told it was a nutritional deficiency which made it like that. He hasn't been plucked as he was young either.

I've got a really good photo of him as well which I think youll love, I'll post it up tomorrow

looks as if he started off as a pied ,and somewhere along the way decided he didnt like the white feathers.

i still think anything with white tips to the wings or white markings anywhere are pied so maybe the parents of this bird where split for or where actually pied birds

I have one pair that gave me a female something like yours...the wing edges are white and remained white...they have had a couple of clutches and have not had any more since.
