Crested Euro Society?

Post by flrancho » Thu Aug 25, 2011 8:58 am

I became ware of Euro Societies a few months ago and that they are really just a cross between a Society and a Spice Finch.

I currently have a male crested Society and what I think is a female Spice finch. I would much rather have a "purebred" finch than a cross, but seeing the Spice preening the Society got me thinking.

Is there, or can there be such a thing as a crested Euro Society? I've seen pics of Euro Societies but none of them have ever had crests. Just curious if its even possible.

I've read that Euro are three-way hybrids between the Society Finch, the BlackHeaded Nun (Lonchura malacca) and the White Headed Nun (Lonchura maja)and in the case of the Red Brown, also possibly the Chestnut BreastedMannikin (Lonchura castaneothorax).
