Don't have the book either, but would love to get it too. The boys are gorgeous btw. The line does look clean, and if it's a new or odd mutation I can understand the excitement of working with it. I just don't find it as attractive as a clean breast color though. JMO!

It is a picture of a hen with a very pale green color like the normal Dilutes have - very different seeing it on a hen.

I would get the book just for the pictures - all the colors are in the book and then some :)

MLaRue wrote:Speaking of the book - look at page 109 - the Dilute back hen? I think I have this color - the hen that is nesting with Bumble Bee is this color? You mentioned this in your other post - but that hen looks yellow to me? Is she like the book picture in person?
The hen I mentioned in the other post is a yellow hen, she was just so dark with a blue/grey color around her head and bibb that I thought for a moment she was a sf yellow male... but no she is a female. Sorry for any confusion, I thought maybe she might be a start of a dilute??? never had a yellow with a back this green though genetically she is a yellow. She is also related to BlueBoy so the blue/grey on the head and the darker back may be due to that genetic quirk. I have never seen any AY(australian yellows) or Dilute hens in the states. There are many in Austrailia, and I have only seen the pictures in the book. I am sure this mutaion, like all does/will crop up in our breeding aviaries. Just a matter of time and different crossings :D Cool you have a dilute hen :D

Thought I would post a picture of American Pie... he is finishing up his second year molt and has kept some of the blue in his breast...actually gotten some at the top of the breast this year.

His offspring were purple/white breast so don't know if this trait will be past on. That will take another year for them to mature and reproduce.

Hi Candace!
Nice blue-bar guy!!!
This summer, I bought a YH(I think so) "Blue Bar-Blue or purple" Breast(???) BB male to my friend Micheline who has small aviary...Two years ago, I sold her the mother hen of this bizarre breast. The young hen is RH/YH WB(normal) GB/BB and her father is a WB with a tiny blue bar on bluish white breast....There's some pictures of the grandson and grandfather:

Well it's been over a year since I posted pics of one of my blue bars... this guy is not only keeping the blue bar but he is getting more ..I moved him back outdoors for some sun in the fun...no more cool weather . He is a happy camper... he and his lady have raise one very nice clutch and they have 3 eggs in the nest now... hopefully the move won't bother them.. they hadn't seriously started to incubate yet...
