New ZF Arrivals and old Friends

Post by Peanut » Sat May 05, 2012 1:17 pm

I was wondering if anyone could tell me the colors of my Zebra Finch. I started with Paddy and Molly
Paddy is possibly a light back split to fawn as he is a little paler on the back than a normal grey and he doesnt have any white on the chest its cream and fawn

Image
Paddy is the one looking/leaning down off the perch

Image
Molly Im thinking might be pied because she is fawn with just a couple of bits of white on the head chest and wings

Image

Watty I think is a normal grey male

Image

Una his future wife is I think a possible Isabelle she has no tear markings she is creamy white in color with cream and white ZF markings on her tail which are only visible in a good light

Image

Una again

Lastly a picture of Cara who I have babysitting young hand reared Noddy and she is a grey/Peuter color, I thought she might be silver but when I looked up the silver colors none of the pictures look like her she isnt black enough to be a black face so Im unsure. Sorry about the pics, Im not great with the camera  Her actual color over most of her body is the silver gray color you see here on her head, there is a shadow on her back in this pic but its almost the same color as her head. She has a creamy fawn color on chest and underneath and her tail has very distinctive black and white ZF markings also she has black tipped feathers on her wings, (the long outer feathers)

Image
The only thing I have learned about mutations is what I have discovered on this site and eFinch in the last few days so I could have them all wrong,I will accept your better judgement on their color, I just wanted to see if I got any of them right  :lol:Thanks :)

Thanks a mill Dante :) I never asked what Paddy and Molly were when I first came on here as I had presumed he was normal and she was fawn but when I discovered the mutations of color I began to see my narrow mindedness about the color needed to change  I got Watty and Una and Cara to babysit Noddy the day before yesterday, as they all came from the same place I got Paddy and Molly from a month ago, the local pet shop and he is really good about a vet checking their health etc . I never imagined a normal grey looked like Cara, she looks different to the pics I looked at but they probably werent true normal greys in the images I googled. Thank you very much for your help I really appreciate it:D

Una looks to be a fawn Isabel, the rest I agree with Dante...Molly is a fawn/BC/Pied

Cindy, on Una, there is a white patch on the back of her head, wing, andunder her wing. It may just be my screen. Do you also see it?

She is Isabel, I am looking at the tail...can you get a shot of her back and tail to be certain in regards to a pied.

I pulled a few shots of my Isabels....with the fawn Isabels you sometime see some white under the wing are...I am not saying she may not be pied but here are a few to compare. A picture of Una's back will help if you can get one.

I have had them come out with a smooth even look others more of a broken pattern...I wanted to see her back especially the wings and tail to see if it is lacey or more pied.

The picture of the three Isabels (the one on the left turned out to be a male) the one on the far right has the white under the wing on the side. All three are siblings.
