DF vs SF

Post by love4finches » Sat Jun 02, 2012 5:39 pm

Can someone explain the difference between the two. I don't understand with all the reading but know it affects doing the genetic table to put a male and female together to get certain colored babies.

One good example of DF & SF is Florida Fancy zebras.

DF removes all grey and black

SF dilutes it but cannot completely remove it

Yes Dante but I can not get to it on my lap top anymore, when I open certain sites on the FIC...it is human health issues/medications. We tried to correct it but unfortunately we can not get it undone. Since I could not get the link coorrectly I presented it the way I did. I can get into the complete FIC on my kindle fire but it is easier to post from the computer. :(

Cindy,
No I didn't know. Thank you for the heads up.

Dante,

I still don't get the actual definition of DF and SF. Can you tell by looking at the color of your bird? I understood what you said about what each does.

Depending on whether it is a DF or SF will determine different colored babies, right?

Yes, the DF or SF will affect the look of the chicks. SF basically means the bird split for that mutation. Sometimes not ffecting color at ll. Some mutations need DF (one factor from each parent) to obtain the mutation.

Read this, it is bout the Florida Fancy, it may help clarify some things about a bird needing both factors: http://efinch.com/species/ffzeb.htm

Thank you I will. You've all been so patient with me. Thank you.

I posted a pic of my new societies and just posted that they are definately a pair. (They did the "deed" twice) in an hour.

I am so happy. I'm getting, slowly but surely! =D>
