What head color is on this Gouldian hen?

Post by Sally » Tue Jun 03, 2008 10:32 pm

I never know what to call this Gouldian hen, as far as her color. She is yellow-backed and white-breasted, but what head color is this? Is it such a dilute black that it looks white? Can any of you Gouldian specialists help me?

Never mind, I just read the article on Gouldian genetics at the FIC (when in doubt, read the directions!), and it explains that on a black-headed, yellow-backed Gouldian, the black appears white or almost white. Gouldian genetics makes my head swim, but this article sets it out where even I can sort of understand it.

i was just about to say dilute black. I was looking through a bunch of mutations earlier today and came across one like that.
