Just to compare...
Violet ring= VDM3b's young... end of feather lighter...they are male...one white breast and the other one lilac breast
White ring=Pastel one and his normal green sister are the children of my pied hen(who has, I think two male gene, one green or blue and one yellow because all of her young are normal green hen and all males are pastel cock...). He will be red head...
Black ring=VDM2b's son, a future white breast cock...nice yellow belly yet!
Youngs together....

And just for fun...The new chick of my "Blue-violet Gouldian" cock, "Lavander"!! (Topic: "Blue-violet Gouldian???)

Some pictures of Opaline just before is molting state...that was in july...

It was in july...almost red!

Almost red... :D I don't know if he will keep those incredible colors...Now, he is on intense molt and
I think he will keep his pink feather color on his rump...We will see! 8)

 The more I read about colors, the more I'm convinced that a Violet factor exist...combine with Dark factor, I'm pretty sure that some some special colors can emerge...(pink, reddish, violet or lilac at the end of each blue feather, more difficult on green...)

Hi Isa!
Your birds are fine - I wish I would live near to you to see your birds and could attend your experiences!!!???
Most of my mysteriös birds seem to change to normal colored birds.
So I couldn't (til now) detect the inheritance of the seagreen gouldians. May be those birds appear sometimes and you could not get a substancial strain.
The perhaps pied gouldians do produce no more pied ones. But this breeding season I will experience once again with siblings. The "pied" mother was til yesterday very fit but died without any signs of illness!
This Weekend I found another strange colored bird on a market. Of course I must buy him although he isnt really healthy.
Look at the pics - interessting!??

Wow! Really nice one! Some feathers seems slightly violet, as I'm right? :D
Hope he will keep his gorgeous colors! Is he "Noble blue"???

Sorry for your pied hen... :(
My pied hen is ok and I'm quite convince that she has one extra mâle gene, the yellow one as all her young who are yellow factor are cock...
Bernd, do you know why the "Erythrura website" isn't available anymore???

On the breast he shows slightly violet

Hi,

in my opinion, it seems to be a Noble Blue.
If it was a Seagreen, all his back would be at the same color and not like that, with diferent shades of green and blue.

The erythura website is donw from is odl server. They, now as a new server...

regards
Gustavo
