YH GB Hen Pics?

Post by mystica » Sun Sep 30, 2012 10:30 am

Does anyone have some pics of a YH GB hen? I have a RH pair that produces some YH males, but the females appear RH. But one female is morecredc than the other. Only slightly, but is she still considered a RH? I am posting a pic, but it's not great for what I'm trying to compare. The RH female to the left of the pic has darker red than the other RH in the oic. These are young, only 6 months old.

In that picture the hens all look RH to me. If the beak tip is red it's a RH, if it's yellow it's a YH.

Here's a picture of one of mine in molt

Here is a closer pic. She looks red to me but when the light hits she has a very orange cast to it which her sister doesn't have. They both have red tipped beaks though.

Here is a pic of my YH hen next to a RH hen...as you can see the difference is very evident.
Please pardon the little pins they are coming out of their molt.

Thanks!
Your pics help a lot. I just wondered because the sisters were different if I was wrong about her being a RH. :)

Could also be split for OH.
I had a pair of RH-PB/WB-YB that surprise me and gave me an OH-PB-YB. So both were RH/OH.

Seeing how you got YH males in other clutches you know that each parent is split to YH (RH/YH). Each of your chicks will be either RH, RH/YH or YH. Though there is no way to visually tell if they are split to YH. I'm sure over time eventually you will get a YH hen out of that pair. :)
