OH YB Gouldian help

Post by danaday » Fri Dec 06, 2013 12:44 pm

Hi Everyone

I want to get an orange head yellow back gouldian. I am wondering if any of the gouldian experts on here could give me some advice. So I will be buying at least 3 gouldians, all uncolored(head and chest) but will be yellow backs when fully color. I would like to know if there are any clues (even if it's the slightest) on being able to guess right on head colors? I am assuming that there would be a clue on narrowing it down to an OH without knowing anything else about the parents' colors and etc. I really want to be able to get an orange head out of the 3.

But don't forget, you could also get a visually black headed bird with a yellow tipped beak, but technically it is considered an orange/yellow headed bird. So I guess if you are wanting it for the genetic side and not the visual look of the orange head, don't be disappointed if you get an orange tipped beak that turns out to have a black head... :)

I personally like the look of the black headed birds, especially the females when they come into breeding condition, the whole head/beak is black, looks very pretty to me!
