Hi everyone
I have a question regarding eye colors on yellow gouldians. Hopefully, someone can explain to me or help answer my question? I have four yellow back gouldians. One is a orange head female and the other three I'm not sure as they have yet to color up. But I am thinking they will be red heads if it matters or not. Not sure on the sex either, but thinking one is a male. Anyways...I noticed that the 3 uncolored ones have a reddish tint to their eyes when the light hits them (think of redeyes in a picture). The orange head female has dark/black eyes. She shows no red tint when the light hits them. Does anyone know why and etc. I am very curious. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: Question about Yellow Gouldians
Yellow chicks in the nest will have what appear to be "red eyes" for the first few days after hatching, and will be very pale in comparison to their nest mates.

Re: Question about Yellow Gouldians
Dana, you're not talking about baby chicks, but older ones already fledged, aren't you?

Re: Question about Yellow Gouldians
I apologize if there was a confusion.
Debbie, thanks for the info. It was very informative to read. You're always so wonderful!
You are correct Dolly. I am not talking about baby chicks. I am talking about older ones, about 3 months old or so I was told from the person I bought them from. The orange head female is an adult, not sure of her age. I'm guessing she's at least a year old.
If anyone needs any other kind of information regarding my yellows to help determine why the color difference in eyes, just feel free to ask.
