Definitely a SF pastel but I do believe a BH YTB or YHSmurf wrote: Still a long way to go to be fully coloured, going by parents chick is most likely a BH PB Dilute Cock

Re: Is my juvenile gouldian fully colored out?
debbie276 Mom's beak is definitely yellow tipped. So what does that mean for his head? Also, just out of curiosity- my juvenile girl's beak is blackish - does that mean anything?
Thanks everyone for your help!

Re: Is my juvenile gouldian fully colored out?
Juveniles beaks are black till they finish their adult molt.If it is yellow then she is genetically a YH so she is a BH YTB
Yellow head (YH) is an autosomal recessive trait, but also requires at least one red head gene to be present in order to be expressed. If two yellow head genes are present on a bird that has no red head genes (and instead has black head genes), the bird will have a black head with a yellow tipped beak (YTB). This occurs because the bird is genetically a yellow headed bird, but it cannot express the yellow color because the yellow gene depends on the red head gene for expression, and the red head gene is not there.
All male chicks will be YH/BH and all hens will be YH

Re: Is my juvenile gouldian fully colored out?
debbie276 - sorry, I am just not getting this - I apologize. You state that all male chicks will be YH/BH and all hens will be YH - but my juvenile hen is BH. OR (may have just figured this out) - you're saying the juvenile hen is a YH, but looks like a BH cause she doesn't have a red gene (even though dad is a YH)?
So confused.
Thank goodness they're all pretty!

lovezebs, he is pretty much the same. He looks to have something going on on the side of his face, but only got a quick glance this morning and will check more when I get home tonight.
Thanks for checking!

This is the best picture I could get. It looks like blotchy black showing through, so I would think molting into a black head, but he is a dilute, so can't he not express black? Also, no pin.feathers. He seems fine otherwise.

Looks like thinning feathers and not a normal molt in the picture. There should be pins feathers galore on the head. He also has a yellow tipped beak if I'm seeing the colors correctly which means he is a YH or BH YTB (Black Head Yellow Tipped Beak)

He seems ok other than that - is there something that I need to be giving him?

The feathers on his head and face, look a little odd. Not sure what's going on there.
I would offer eggs and greens along with his good quality seed mix. I would also grate some iodine block and add it to their bird grit, and offer a bit daily. Personally, I would add a couple of drops of birdie vitamins to their drinking water as well.
