100% male! I watched him singing earlier today. Now if only that breast colour were definitive.

I'm still going to go with white breast. Male lilac breast color is close to a purple breast hens color only richer. Here's a picture of one of my lilac breasted males that's molting for example.

Debbie276 is absolutely right; definitely not a "Lilac Breast". I've seen lilac breast birds in person and as D276 has said, the lilac is a fainter version of a female purple breast gouldian - a deeper color than our "pretty" birds. I initially thought my male was a lilac breast as well, but I've been told by multiple breeders that his "pink breast" will eventually molt into a clean white breast. Beautiful male, though. =D>

Thanks all. As soon as I saw him sing, I should have realized he's not a LB as he is no where near as dark at my dilute LB male (who is no where near as dark as my regular PB males).

I still think there's a chance he could be lilac breast.
I find that DF Yellow males who are lilac have the most reduced lilac color of them all (probably has something to do with a complete lack of ability to produce melanins).

I have to assume he's DF from how white his head is.

Here's my LB DF Yellow/Blue male romeo - he was very pale lilac, but still lilac. Always molted out this very light rose-pink color.

I guess the only way you'll be sure is if you breed him to a WB Hen and see what pops up in the babies (I'd recommend pairing him to a normal hen because that should bring back a more vibrant lilac color in the offspring) :)

I have seen them that light also .. though I haven't gotten any of my own yet :?
But I think that is where the term rose breasted came from... to differentiate between the shades of lilacs.

It's confusing for me to call it something other than Lilac though because the genetics themselves are the same.
I really think it's related to both head color and body color and the way the limited melanins interact with how the breast color itself manifests.
