Pictures~ I'm not sure what kind of camera you have BUT most cameras have a section of how big of a photo file do you want. Go to your camera's menu and find 'image size' click on that and it should have a list Like 8x10, 11x14 or 5 meg,2 meg, email size or PC. if you choose email size they will be the right size to post.
Through a photoshop program~ If you have Adobe Photoshop open it in edit and upload your photos. Then when you're done doing whatever you want to them like crop or sharpen click save as Jpg. it will save and an 'options' box will pop up. use the slider bar to make the file small. then press okay. Done.
Hope this helps. It's not hard if you can do it a couple times.
Your hen is very pretty!

I love this forum. As you know you join many different ones until you find what feels right for you. This is one terrific forum and the posters are so helpful. Now don't laugh but all this for 1 pair of finches and 5 babies. I've never been happier. Thanks again. Lyn

Okay lyn... where are those photos you've been promising????
I'm glad the photo advice was helpful! You may only have 7 finches right now but by next year you'll have DOZENS! =D> =D> It just happens... mark my words.... Back in March I wanted to buy 2 Societies. Just two.. The breeder gifted me with 3 zebras in addition to the two Societies I purchased. They were tosslings and since I had purchased a parrot from him a few years before he just said I could have them. How could I say no to that?? That makes 5... then I saw a crested Society hen at the pet store and 'HAD' to have it since my other two ended up being males. The 3 Zebras I learned were two boys and a girl. (Penguin cock, Saddleback cock & SFFF hen) That makes 6... 3 months later and I now have 12! The Societies had chicks, the Zebras had chicks, and I'm as pleased as can be!!! Have fun!!!

I practiced doing photos on other sites. I have another post on this thread. That was my first time before instructions on how to do photos. Pic isn't bad just huge! I'll get more up soon. Lyn

PS. Just checked. All 5 babies are gray. The yellow I saw were stuffed crops. So now I'm not sure what I have. Got to get a pic of my couple.

Lyn, that is a BEAUTIFUL pair!
BUT I don't think your male is a grey. It's hard to tell because I'm looking at the pic on my phone, but he looks like he might be a penguin. He sure is pretty!

Just wanted to jump in and say VERY nice birds Lyn... I'm still learning how to recognize Zebra mutations and the intricacies of their genetics myself so I'm not much help in that department. However, I am good at recognizing and applauding very pretty birds! Can't wait to see the baby pics!

Hi, from the picture, she is definately CFW.
DF and SF (meaning double factor and single factor) are only relevant with the dominant genes like BF (blackfaced). DF meaning that the young have recieved 2 genes, 1 from mum 1 from dad. SF's will still show a dominant gene but will not always pass it on to their young, where as a DF will.

Genetics can be tricky, i struggled at first but understand now so you'll get it soon :D
Trouble is Zeb's can carry hidden (resessive) genes which only show if both parents carry it so sometimes they can throw up all sorts of surprises even through future generations.
So if your babies are 'yellow' chances are your parents are carrying a hidden gene, but you wont find out what it is untill you know what the young turn out to be.

I edit my photos straight form my photo's folder on my computer. As you veiw your pictures right click one, click edit, then click resize, click pixels, then change it to about 800 x 600 (just change one number and the other changes automatically) or just resize it as much as you need to get the size right.
Thats how i do it.

See, I'm not sure either. What you don't see in the pic is the other wing of the male. The color is different. Where there is white in what you see in the pic, the other wing is sort of lite brown white speckled. So what is that?

I can do that! That's easy but how do you upload pic after resizing pic?
