Rispa, lay them on their backs on your hand and cover their eyes for a couple second and move your hand... they get up after a couple seconds

I learned it when I was about 10

, I always hold them on their back with their eyes covered by my fingers, and then open my hand and let them stand up themselves when moving them, I think it keeps them calm

your bird could be fawn or cinnamon. do you have a clean shot of the tail -top side. my birds are bred in open flight aviaries about 15 feet long 6 wide and 8 high.
stars are pretty good breeders and usually build their nest from 3 to 6 feet off the aviary floor.very neat and tidy nest -bit bigger then tennis ball size and lined with large amounts of white feathers.
from personal experiences nest inspections are a no no.

I'm glad you mentioned this!
My poor hen got plucked badly last time they bred, I think it was too stressful for her and she stopped incubating. I didn't realize how bad it was until she stopped the incubation all together and I got a close look at her underside.
I'm going to offer feathers to my stars next time around and see what happens.

I will try and get a pic ... I have them in the quarantine flight right now ( just got them a few days ago ) so it's hard to get a good pic
Thanks for the info

I'm still waiting to find a photo of the so-called "blue" star finch mutation.
