It really depends on he space you have them in. if you have 2 pairs in a small cage they will always fight. they are very pushy birds and will fight with any species of finch you put them with. if you plan on getting another zebra make sure they have more room. i was told that it is better to get 1 pair together or 3 or more. I started off with 2 females and a male and eventually the one female paired up with the male and they kicked the other female out the nest so i got her a male and they paired up. then the pairs were fighting over space in the cage to build nest. so i ended up building a flight cage and in there i had 8 pairs and a few other species and they seemed to do a lot better.if you want other species you need a big cage. I have some pictures i posted up a while back with my finches in a big flight cage i built. go to off topic and the subject is called New Pictures.

Bonzo, you made me laugh reading your comments. I feel for ya.
We just recently got a pair of zebras. Put the nest in the cage and some nesting material and before you knew it babies were on the way.
Be careful about what nesting material you use. Check with these guys before you go out and buy junk like I did. They've been soooooo much help to me.
Since I have babies now I'm going to be asking more questions.
Are white zebras common?

awe...were there any other females in the cage with her. they may have not ben hers or another female may have adopted them if you were to get. her. i hardly ever see pet shops here with many colors there usually normal. i was lucky to find someone with all sorts of colors and thats where i got mine for cheap i visited her shop a few times so she gave me great deals on the zebras 5 dollars each and she gave me my pair of shaft tails for 100 dollars and my gouldian pair for 50 dollars.

i use jute and coconut fiber and some mossy stuff. forgot what it was called. but as soon as i put it in the cage they all go crazy and try to get as much as they can to put in there nest. Mine all laid eggs like right away. and they might be getting ready to lay eggs again since there all starting to build nest now.

you probably could've got the white female. the eggs might have been infertile or not even hers and who knows when the next time you see a white zebra again. i was lucky i got 2 all white and they were from diffrent bloodlines. im keeping what i have to see what colors i get, but everytime i see a diffrent one i usually buy them. i was lucky to find the black chgeek zebra because i had went to 8 petshops and ended up finding her and snagged her up right away.
