now compare him to the owl finches (sorry it would have been really hard to get the pure silver bill as well)

have managed to get a pic of his sibling (not very good though I am afraid)

is it too late to suggest a culling?

Knowing him .... yes. Disregard that.

If we care for our finches..... it should be for all of them.
Even the less desirable ones.

I was being a bit factious but I wasn't serious. I've never culled a bird and I don't know that I could. Perhaps if I had needed to and had a humane way of doing it...

and FYI, watch out if you have a sense of humor. there are some real haters on this board.

For a mistake - I think he's turned out pretty good but I would never let him breed - absolutely a one-off and while he's here I will enjoy him :)

I have a mixed aviary so this type of thing could happen to me too.
I hope it never does, but if it does.... I would keep the bird and give it the best life possible just like I do all the others.

FYI I have had to cull a few birds and it is not a fun thing, but sometimes necessary for suffering birds.. Also, I do not think there are any "haters" on this forum. We all have sense of humors and love finches.
