Glad to see I wasn't the only one at a loss. Yeah, (sigh) we get that look a lot.

Wow, another honey. Dad's getting to be quite the playa. My first thought at reading this was that they'd work against each other and "muddy" things up, but after looking it up on efinch read that it's a fairly common practice as a means of strengthening up the BC since the Gray / Fawn Cheek is a dominant mutation.

Definitely curious to see how that clutch turns out. Please keep us in the loop, as well as some pics of your first clutch once they get their "big bird" feathers. Still wondering whether the flank markings on your young male with come in as full BC.

I am hijacking my old thread, since the topic is relivant....I think...

OUTCOME of Fawn cheek and Osiris::

Osiris..possibly the hen, threw the clutch out f the nest....trixy birds.

So, the male and his old flame got back to gether and produced two black cheek males...but their black cheeks have a burgundy color to them, they are not completely jet black like his first baby. And their brest bars are just like their father, not full, and not connected in the middle..*sigh*

The held back hen from his first clutch (the lightback, black cheek pied female) has been paired with a silver Isabel male (I am assuming it's Isabel because it meets the visual criteria.. they are both young, and are just bonding for now, we'll see about breeding later. Should be interesting...The pic below is from eFinch. This male I have looks just like the Florida Fancy Silver bird, but with light cream/fawn/tan cheeks..

And the strange fawn cheeked white hen.. Got a new Bo who loves her, they had a small clutch, two female birds.. I am a bit disappointed, I was hoping one would be male.. The father of this clutch is a bit bizzar to me too.. I can't find any pics that look like him. So I would like to give a physical description, then post pics of my birds later for you to study..

The male (I call him Ra, because he is huge, and rules the roost in the aviary) Is all white. He has rust laceing around his feathers like a Florida Fancy, brown/rust tail bars, thick chestnut feathers, large round rusty cheeks, and a brown/ rusty breast bar and scaled feathers. NO black markings at all. His eyes are a blackish grey, and his underbelly is also white..not cream.. so any ideas??
** see the link, but imagine the first bird with a rust brest bar that looks smeared into his neck.
2)http://www.efinch.com/species/ffzeb.htm

His mate (the female) is also white, with some lacing around the feathers and a creamy buff/tan colored cheek

The offspring have no cheeks, have laceing around their feathers (more than their dam) and have buff colored bellies..so would these be CFW hens?? So confused... pics to follow...

While taking pictures it would appear that I don't know my birds as well as I thought... the silver florida fancy, his cheeks ARE orange, not fawn, and are actually very bright..not as dark as the bird in the picture...but orange non the less..

And Ra, the big white bird, his belly IS cream underneith..not white, like I first thought.. two pics of him playing peek-a-boo behind a branch, you can see his lady, and Osiris being a camera hog.. I wish he would hold still, so I could get a close-up of his neck so you can see the rust scaling on his neck..drat.
