Lilac breast or just pretty?

I still think there's a chance he could be lilac breast.
I find that DF Yellow males who are lilac have the most reduced lilac color of them all (probably has something to do with a complete lack of ability to produce melanins).

I have to assume he's DF from how white his head is.

Here's my LB DF Yellow/Blue male romeo - he was very pale lilac, but still lilac. Always molted out this very light rose-pink color.

I guess the only way you'll be sure is if you breed him to a WB Hen and see what pops up in the babies (I'd recommend pairing him to a normal hen because that should bring back a more vibrant lilac color in the offspring)

It's confusing for me to call it something other than Lilac though because the genetics themselves are the same.
I really think it's related to both head color and body color and the way the limited melanins interact with how the breast color itself manifests.

Yes, I agree, so many names for the same mutation does get confusing. I have talked with people about the birds I was researching to buy, and sometimes they say it is more a rose-breasted color... I immediately know it is most likely a df YB ... or a washed out lilac...or dirty WB... or who knows, rose breasted?, but never really thought about the head connection.... Makes sense, since the melanins are so restricted with black heads throughout. The RH and YH I have seen seem to be a bit darker lilac breast than the BH so that makes sense that the melanin would affect the total package on these df BH LB yellows and make the lilac that pale.
I don't really get the mutation until I produce them myself and see for myself... kind of like a mad scientist experimenting in the basement I need to go create one of these Thanks for the insight.
