Isa, I have two things to say:

1. All of them are gorgeous
2. You have some crazy genetics going around!

Ok, bad and good news... The bad new: The second daughter of Opaline will probably die soon...She's week and look like if she's doing anemia and took every "cold" that went on...Her immune system is probably too weak due to consanguine genes... :(

Good news: :D VDM3b, the mother of this hen had two new young since yesterday... She choose her son, the gorgeous red head lilac breast sea green back...(My pastel "violet-blue back" seems to be too young for the moment...not flirting or courting... #-o
Day 1...
Day 1...
Again, those chicks seems to have paler yellow nodules and really pinkish skin...New sea green or Opaline's one???

An other good new:  Opaline Cock is father too...He seduced a dark unrelated red head purple breast green back and had these three new babies five days ago... They are dark and pinkish too...with paler yellow nodules...

oh my.. congratulations on the chicks and of course I will be watching the kaleidoscope of colors unfold :D
My RH seagreen hen went down and looked awful. she had 2 clutches of 2 chicks each... I removed her and gave heat, calcium...sunshine and she looks great now. I do think the new mutations are weaker in general. My BH seagreen hen is healthy but never interested in breeding...

Now, the pictures of the young's of the father of Opaline, the "one leg" one with a black head white breast green back who is one of the descendant of VDM1a.. :D
VDM2b (gorgous, isn't he?) with new young...
VDM2b (gorgous, isn't he?) with new young...
Sorrily, my hen lay eggs in two time, four at first then three other ones after 3-4 days.... so one of the first clutch didn't make it and the three last didn't make it because the parents didn't feed them (one was a blue back one :( )

and third, the grandfather family (VDM2b, who is the father of Opaline and the brother of VDM3b hen)...

One of their young have a clear spot in his beak...Is it just an error or can it be the result of the mist between their parents who have some clear feathers?!?

Ho! Thanks Candace!!!

Wow that gap mouth shot is very interesting. Wonder why it is clear...
Maybe Tiffany can shed some light on this as she has looked at a lot of gouldian's mouth markings.
