I guess he'll start building when the mood strikes. It's funny because mine started right away. He couldn't wait, the little devil.Bonzo wrote:I'm using Kaytee ORCHARD GRASS as nesting material as all of Petsmartlivinonaprayer wrote:Bonzo, you made me laugh reading your comments. I feel for ya.
We just recently got a pair of zebras. Put the nest in the cage and some nesting material and before you knew it babies were on the way.
Be careful about what nesting material you use. Check with these guys before you go out and buy junk like I did. They've been soooooo much help to me.
Since I have babies now I'm going to be asking more questions.
Are white zebras common?
shops are using.
But i'm having NO LUCK, all they do is play with it, an nibble a bit
I started using pieces of raffia, then a few little strips of paper. He was putting everything he could get his beak on in that nest. When he started to shove parsley in the nest I had to stop. I guess he wanted everything just right for the little mother to be.
Don't fret. He'll start building.

Hi All,Bonzo wrote:I'm not to sure sticking another hen (white) in with my bonded pair right nowjamezyboo21 wrote:you probably could've got the white female. the eggs might have been infertile or not even hers and who knows when the next time you see a white zebra again. i was lucky i got 2 all white and they were from diffrent bloodlines. im keeping what i have to see what colors i get, but everytime i see a diffrent one i usually buy them. i was lucky to find the black chgeek zebra because i had went to 8 petshops and ended up finding her and snagged her up right away.
I just need to be sure, IF I deside to go back to Petsmart to get the all white zebra hen, Can i stick her in with my bonded pair?
I have a large flight cage with a divider & thought that i could seperate them with that for a bit, till they would seem OK

does it sound alright

that sounds okay to me. i would do that if i had a divider but if you have a flight cage there should be enough room for her and the pair and you can just add another nest for her to stay in. just eep her nest away from the other pair.

Should i use the (solid or wire) divider?

i dont know how big your flight cage is but, if it is good size, you probably wont even need the divider, i dont know for sure though. all i know is right now i have 10 pairs in a large traveling cage and i put 10 nests in there and they still all get alog, i have seen anyone fighting and they all been using the nest and i actually have 4 nests with eggs in them already. other ppl will tell you thats wrong and all that but for now thats what i have and as long as eerything seems to be okay thats what they will stay in till i get the 2 flight cages.
