question from a new finch owner

Hi. I recently acquired 2 gouldians from someone who had gotten them from a breeder last year. They are one year old. The male is a red-headed, purple/yellow chested, green winged. The female is a red headed, diluted purple/yellow chested, yellow winged. They recently laid 4 eggs and they've been sitting on them continually. I read that if they are not the same color, the eggs have little chance of hatching. Can someone tell me if that is true? Thank you.

Welcome to the forum ,if you fill in your profile with where you live it makes it a lot easier to answer questions sometimes ,have you checked out the finch information center there is a lot of good reading there

If they are setting thats great no reason that they won't hatch, but gouldians[all colors]can be a challenge sometimes but they like privacy a lot

That is false they will hatch just fine. With your color combination your males should be single factor yellow backs and the hens will be green backs. Most if not all will probably be red heads and purple breasted, depending on if they are split to any other colors. Good Luck Rich

Here is a forcastor that you can type in the parent birds colors and it wiill give you the possible colors of the chicks. Have Fun :D
