Hey everyone! So in my signature I have two what I thought were normal zebra finches which have currently four babies. Well today I decided to see if they were all going to be normals or if something else popped in the mix. So my findings where what I believe is the following: 1 normal, 1 in question as it is the runt of the group and one other looks like a fawn and definately one has silverish white feathering? Maybe time will tell once they leave the nest but until then how are any of these colors possible in a pair that looks completely like a normal zebra finch? With the exception that the hen has a much whiter stomach than my other normal hen which has a buff coloring stomach. Thanks all! :D

Looks can be deceptive. Zeebs can hide splits for a number of generations and you'd never know. There are some hints here and there that even Normal Grays display that can indicate certain splits, but I haven't been able to train my eye yet enough to pick them out.

Keeping in mind that once they go through their molt, the babies' colors can change some what, but if you have one with some silverish streaking, that could be an indicator of a silver of some sort. (Dominant, Recessive or even Florida) And if I understand you correctly the mom is the one with a whiter than normal belly? Sounds like you might have a Lightback on your hands there. She does seem a bit lighter when compared to my other normal female. So we will just have to see what I have when they all leave there nest, it should be the end of this week or beginning of next. :)
