I'm not overly familiar with genetic mutations, so I'm afraid I can't help you much. Though I know there are many people on here who can. I just wanted to say she is a beautiful little bird and I LOVE the name! =D> =D>

I'm not sure either but I agree - love the names and she is very young and pretty! Wonder what she'll colour up to be?

She's a cutie for sure. I would agree with the guess on her age since the beak still has a hint of black to it. And usually by this point some male markings would be showing up, so fairly certain it is a hen. As for the mutation, can't say that I've seen a color combination quite like her. Maybe a Silver of some sort. Doesn't quite look like our Florida Silvers, but then there is a lot of room for fluctuation in that mutation. Coloring can range from very light gray to a medium fawnish color. The silver streaking through out is generally the give away though with that mutation.

We don't have any Dominant or Recessive Silvers so I can't speak with any certainty, but the pictures from efinch don't quite seem to match up. Maybe a CFW / Fawn mixture of some sort. Hens can't be split for CFW but the mutation can combine with ones on the same allelic series. Continental CFW's do have a darker fawn cast to them but they generally have darker tail bar markings as well, which your little girl seems to lack. Do you have any idea of her "family history?"

Coloring for hens usually doesn't change all that much once they molt but I'd still like to see some pics of her once she's a little older. And if possible showing a little more of her back side. Nonetheless, a very pretty little girl you have there.

Wait, you're overseas, right? Forgot all about that. Then she might be an Isabel of some sort. That's largely a European mutation, not seen much over here in the states.

Thank you, she is pretty and quite large compaired to Dusty, I'm thinking Dusty might be a timor Zebra?
And thank you, my friend suggested the name. :D
Whoa she is only young, as the shop said she is yet to colour up, (we're from Australia too.) No chance of getting info on her parents as she was from a shop and no bands on any of the finches.
I did have a look over some mutations and the isabel caught my eye too.
I'll just have to wait and see :D

I do now she has some light, tan-ish tail markings showing up, if thats any help...
Thanks again for the replies :)

Was she white or grey when she got her feathers in the nest? My recessive silvers were grey and then molted to their silver colors and my CFWs are white from the start.
