PIED GOULDIAN?

Post by cute finch boy » Mon Jan 31, 2011 10:55 pm

here is a question for all of yall gouldian breeders out there!

i have a pair of old RH GB PB birds... they have always lived in a cage with each other... and have raised a large number of chicks over the years.... never have they produced yellows or dilutes. only mutation is WB sometimes.

i noticed when one chick was young it had an odd color spot on its back... as it grew and fledged the bird had a fawn(baby yellow) colored spot in the middle of its back...

now that it is starting to color out.... the bird is a RH WB GB but still has the color patch... the fawn is being replaced by YELLOW feathers.... its not the greatest pic... but the green feathers are comming in dark regular green... not dilute....

here are a few pics....

enjoy

Interesting to say the least. I love oddballs. It will be interesting to watch his spot as he continues to mature and color out. I have yellows with green spots on their backs but not green with yellow spots. Could be the start of a pied line.

Cute, at least it appears centered and symmetrical. :)

I would LOVE to see some pied gouldians become available in the marketplace! =D>

I love pieds -- I know a lot of folks don't but I am the opposite. I think the contrasting colors of the pied birds are marvelous!

There are a few other pictures on this forum of some differently marked gouldians as well -- you'll have to check them out!
